Princess
“Princess” is a power-pop anthem which speaks on the topic of growing up as a woman. Girls are taught about fairy tales when they are young, but the message in this track is that sometimes you need to save yourself. FLETCHER has mentioned that this is the most personal song she has written, seeing that it comes from real-life events.FLETCHER talks to TIME about the song, “I wrote “Princess” two years ago when many of the women around me were feeling lost or weak. I wanted to empower them to feel hopeful and not helpless. We are all going through something, but experiencing the highs and the lows makes us who we are. “What if Cinderella had to save herself?” is a message I’ve always needed to hear.”Inspiration for the song was drawn from Hilary Clinton’s concession speech and Selena Gomez’s AMA speech, FLETCHER told Refinery 29
War Paint
“War Paint” was released on June 16, 2015. On Genius.com, FLETCHER annotated the lyrics of the song saying, “Love isn’t easy but it’s a choice whether you bend or you break.”, “That moment you realize you’re willing to do whatever it takes to prove to that special someone you’re the one for them, that’ll you fight for them for the rest of your life.”
Over My Head
“Over My Head” was the first song that FLETCHER released as a solo artist. The song was released on March 4, 2015 and focuses on a narrator who is so head over heels for their recent lover. Unable to forget them, they compare the feelings to a physical drug addiction.
Avalanche
“Avalanche’ was released on June 26, 2016. On Genius.com, FLETCHER annotated the lyrics saying, “This first verse was inspired by my falling for someone who I knew was feeling what I was feeling as well, but refused to acknowledge these emotions. “Avalanche” was my way of convincing them to be vulnerable, to let go of any hesitance and to allow themselves to fall as fast and hard as I was.”

“Similar to the way a new relationship is, an avalanche is something that is dangerously beautiful. It’s beyond scary to experience, but the reward of love is so worth it.”

“The fear is paralyzing, but the feeling is liberating.”

Wasted Youth
“Wasted Youth” was released on August 26, 2016 and lead FLETCHER to stardom as an independent artist. The song went viral on Spotify and landed her a spot on their “Spotify Spotlight” list.

The ballad is an ode to being young and falling in love.

This song has a clear renegade-style theme incorporated into the lyrics. In an interview with W Magazine, FLETCHER said that “Wasted Youth” was a bridge between the EP, which focused on a breakup, and her upcoming works.

Live Young Die Free
“Live Young Die Free” was released on November 20, 2015. FLETCHER annotated the song on Genius saying, “To me, the song isn’t so much about just living in the moment, but rather about it never being too late to push yourself to take risks and make opportunities for yourself in this world.”

“I grew up in a place where everyone was the same and had the same aspirations. No one ever dared to be different. I want to live life with no regrets whatsoever.”

“You’re never too old to be a rebel or to run after what it is you want in this world.”
